Unique Colors and Its Influence on Your Website and Company Design

90 seconds! This short period is sufficient to get a first impression and decide whether a product or website design appeals to a potential customer.  

According to research, the visual appearance of a product influences the majority of all buyers when buying. This leaves little room for the other senses to support a purchase decision.  

It’s the same with websites: more than half of them don’t revisit a website if it doesn’t look good. In addition, unique colors are associated with a high recognition value.  

Don’t you think so? Think of the T-Mobile Magenta. Do you see the color in your mind’s eye? OK then. In web design and companies, marketing is considered particularly successful when the consumer and interested party are ready to recognize the company by its color. 

Website colors and their effect on the recipient 


The color red has a stimulating and invigorating effect. It is attributed, among other things, appetite- and pleasure-stimulating, emotional properties. Red is the best color for passionate dances like the tango. The streaming service Netflix also uses red. It speeds up the pulse and can quickly become intrusive and nerve-wracking if used excessively, so a sense of proportion is required! 


Yellow is the color of optimism and youth. It attracts attention and conveys a certain degree of clarity and structure. Yellow is often associated with happiness and warmth.  

However, if used over a large area, yellow can cause eye and headaches. It is used by Shell and Pizza.de, for example. 


Excitement, warmth, and energy – orange is a powerful color. It stands for creativity and self-confidence.  

The color orange stimulates impulse actions and spontaneous purchases, which is why it is particularly often used for call-to-action buttons. On Amazon, however, you can also find orange as an accent color. Just like red, too much orange can provoke aggression. 


Blue is considered a serious and peaceful color and is therefore often preferred as the primary color by banks, insurance companies, and consulting firms.  

It is perceived as balanced, calm, confidence-inspiring, and productivity-enhancing. Facebook, Skype, and American Express, among others, also rely on the color blue. 


Often, nature-loving companies use the color green to indicate their environmental awareness. Starbucks and bp are prime examples of this.  

The color green is associated with health, wealth, growth, and nature. Green often gives the impression of an optimistic, beautiful future. Organic products like to use green as an identification color. 


Formerly reserved for rulers (and priests), purple still represents the color of extravagance, wealth, and wisdom today. In media design, this color is preferred primarily by beauty and wellness brands.  

Yahoo too! It uses the positive associations of the color purple. 


The effect of black strongly depends on the use of other colors on the website. In combination with white, black looks perfectionist, elegant, authoritarian, and luxurious.  

These two colors are beautiful to timeless websites. Examples would be Bose, Nike, and Montblanc. If black is used excessively or combined with red, the color can also make you nervous or lead to negative emotions such as fear or anger. 


Purity, simplicity, and tidiness – the color white is considered the most innocent color of all. It is ideally suited as a background color in web design – an excellent surface on which other colors can set vital to spectacular accents.
