Universal Music Enterprises, a division of the Universal Music Group, has signed a multi-year, non-exclusive licensing agreement with Akoo , to make its music and videos available through m-Venue, Akoo’s place-based media and marketing network. Put simply, m-Venue lets media companies market to mobile users visiting designated establishments. Once in the venue, users can use their mobile phones to search, select and activate in-location audio/video content and interactive entertainment on demand. Users’ audio and video selections are then played in designated multimedia zones within the venue. In addition to on-demand digital content, m-Venue has a music ID and discovery feature that lets users identify the artist and song by sending a text message, as well as a digital store where users can purchase and download the music content OTA to their phones. Akoo is introducing its m-Venue platform nationwide in the U.S., following a series of successful trials, the company said. (Press release.)
