MTV Reogranizing Mobile Efforts; Forms Mobile Media Group

MTV Networks, which last year earned about $100 million in mobile worldwide last year, is reorganizing and centralizing all its mobile efforts across the globe into a new division called “Mobile Media Group”. It will co-ordinate the mobile activities within MTVN’ various cable channels and among its domestic and international operations, reports FT.
MTV has deals in place with all the big carriers, and is publishing more than 600 clips and 30 hours per month in the US, it says. It is also launching a new service, Mobile Junk 2.0, with Sprint, in which user-gen video content will be pushed form online to the phones..customers can use their phones to vote for their favorite clips, which will be broadcast on the company’s TV networks, the story says.
Greg Clayman, who is the VP, Wireless Strategy & Operations, MTV Networks heading U.S. efforts, is now also heading this broader division.
