Dada has released official details today, after we broke the story on Friday: the $7 million is the price at which Italian mobile content firm Dada Mobile has bought NYC-based Upoc.
—In 2005, Upoc recorded revenues of $3.6 million, with an increase of 71 percent compared to $2.1 million in the previous year and a gross profit of $2.9 million. The operating result in 2005, although a loss of $1.9 million, recorded an improvement compared to the loss of $3.0 million in 2004. Personnel costs accounted for approx. 101% of sales in 2005. At June 30, 2006 the net cash position of the company was positive for $0.9 million.
—It says Upoc has about 3 million registered users, sends 2 million SMS messages per day and grows at almost 50 thousand new subscribers monthly - the majority of which from WAP services; the company currently employs 34 professionals.
—Q2 2006 the international activities accounted for 37% of Dada’s consolidated turnover.
