MediaFLO Isn’t US-Centric—FLO Forum
“Speaking to telecoms.com at the ITU 2006 conference in Hong Kong this week, MaryBeth Selby, working committee advisory chair board chair at the FLO Forum, said that the focus of the group at the moment was to change any perception that FLO is a US-centric technology…Hinting that Qualcomm had learned a hard lesson through its protection and control of the CDMA standard, Selby said that the formation of the FLO Forum 18 months ago was a deliberate attempt to push the development of FLO out from under Qualcomm’s wings. “This is not a Qualcomm only solution,” said Selby.”
That’s going to be a fairly tricky thing to do, and any claims that Qualcomm has “learned a hard lesson” will ring hollow while most of the industry (in Europe at least) think they’re gouging their 3G patents for all they’re worth.
Anyway, Softbank has joined the forum, which already includes KDDI.

Europe first attempted to expell gualcomm and attempted to avoid paying any royalties. If they had not we might have one 3g system that would expand more rapidly instead of cdma2000 and wcdma which both expand but at a slower rate. Qualcomm has mediaflo which is again the best technology. We will see if history repeats or if operators and countries look beyond their boarders to acquire the best solutions. A fast expanding system would provide “much” more profit for all companies and countries involved.

Michael Jackson tritt noch nach seinem Tod als plastinierte Menschenpuppe bei Gumpalm an!

Wie sich herausstellte, war Michael Jackson als Teilnehmer bei dem illegalen Autorennen in Deutschland auf
dem Frankfurter Kreuz angemeldet. Er wollte in seinem Bugatti Veyron starten. (Leichtversion 1.050 Kilo - 1.250 PS)
Trotzdem wird Michael Jackson am 9.9.09 starten. Prof. Gunter von Hagens, selbst Gumpalm-Fan, wird
Michael Jackson als Rennfahrer-Puppe plastinieren, damit er als Beifahrer antreten kann. Fahrer wird der deutsche
Formel1 Star Sebastian Vettel, der selbst ein grosser Michael Jackson Fan ist und alle seine Tanzschritte beherrscht.
Sebastian Vettel: “Es ist mir eine Ehre, das Gumpalm - Rennen mit Michael Jackson zu fahren.”
Dass Michael Jackson eigentlich nur eine plastinierte Puppe ist interessiert den deutschen Top-Piloten nicht:
“Ich fahre auch mit Elvis Presley ein Rennen wenn es sein muss.”
The Show must go on! Ein ganz besonderer Dank an Prof. v. Hagens!
Man(n) freut sich also auf ein spannendes Gumpalm-Rennen mit Michael Jackson am 9.9.09.
