Mobagetown (Mobile Game Town), a mobile-only community game site in Japan, has signed up 2 million members since it launched 9 months ago. “The site is a blend of casual games and social networking –multiplayer and singleplayer games coupled with chat, blogs and avatars…Mobagetown plans to increase its functionality and introduce music, video and search features to the site in the coming months. Membership to Mobagetown is free.”
I Japan is a fair way ahead in terms of mobile content and usage, but the US and Europe are catching up, and I don’t think it will be long before we see an attempt at something similar elsewhere. (via Monty’s Gaming and Wireless Newsletter)
