Handmark Gets $5 Million Second Round Funding From Moto, Others
Mobile and portable content applications firm Handmark has received $5 million in its second round of funding. The round was led by Motorola ventures, as well as participation from first round investors Apax Partners, Borealis Ventures, Village Ventures and Hanna Capital Management.
The money will be used to fund an expansion of Handmark’s Pocket Express service internationally. Pocket Express is a My Yahoo-like portal that serves up customized news, weather and sports on wireless devices. Handmark CEO August Grasis said there “well over 1 million” Pocket Express users now.
