Gameloft Q1 Revenue Increases 49%

Gameloft has posted consolidated sales of €14.8 million in the first quarter of 2006, up by 49% from the previous year of €9.9 million. Unsurprisingly, mobile gaming generated 96% of the first quarter sales (and increasing 49% year-on-year) and internet revenues accounte for 4% of sales (increasing 45% over the period). The release also has this little tidbit: “Revenues from downloadable games account for an increasing part of Gameloft’s total revenues. Game downloads generated 93% of Q1 sales, up 116% compared with the same period in 2005. Game downloads represented 75% of 2005 revenues, increasing by 120% over 2004. The growth rate of the company’s core activity therefore remains very strong.” Which seems to indicate that most online sales aren’t games.
Europe accounted for 46% of the sales, followed by North America on 38% and the rest of the world (mostly Asia and South America) at 16%. This is a lot more balanced than a year ago, when the breakdown for those regions was 57%, 29% and 13%.
