Fundings in Q3: Mobile Social networking Firm Loopt Received $5 Million

Some fundings we missed earlier this year, but noting now as a site of record: Loopt, the mobile social networking startup, received $5 million in funding from Sequoia and NEA. The Palo Alto-based startup that has built a “social mapping” service to helps users keep in touch with their friends. It is now available on Boost Mobile in U.S.
Loopt founder Sam Altman is a 21-year-old who left Stanford University’s computer sciences program last year to start the company.
