Digital Chocolate Teams With EMI Canada

Digital Chocolate has teamed with EMI Music Canada to “deliver an innovative mobile entertainment experience that merges mobile music and gaming”.
The first joint offering will be a mobile game called Club k-os which will use EMI’s recording artist k-os’s likeness and hit single Sunday Morning. The game is a custom version of DC’s Nightclub Empire mobile game. The two companies will also promote a series of physical and digital tie-ins to allow customers to purchase the game via shortcode as well as through WAP sites on carrier’s decks which will offer ringtones, wallpapers and so on as well as the game. Also, the Get More Games feature Digital Chocolate put into the game will provide a direct link to the carrier’s music deck for fans to download ringtones.
This is a fairly niche audience—the fan base of one music artist—but development costs were probably low and the cross sell and promotional aspects of the game greatly reduce the number of people who need to buy it in order for it to become a success.
