This is new and was disclosed in InfoSpace’s Q2 earnings call today: it has signed a deal with Activision to develop some its its console games into mobile games. Said Jim Voelker in the call: “We’re partnering with Activision to create mobile versions of top games, including two upcoming Tony Hawk titles, ‘Project A’ and ‘Downhill Jam’...we are developing the games and distributing them as well. So it’s a matter of taking their intellectual property and some of the game from around it and turning it into games specifically for mobile”. Activision has/had deals in the past with Mforma and Jamdat.
About INSP’s mobile games segment, Allen Hsieh said on the call: “Games is not performing as we had expected. It is a still relatively small or modest part of our mobile revenues here. We expect that with things like Activision, you need have good titles for those.”
