ZumoDrive Raises $1.5 Million For Cloud-Based Mobile Music, Media Access

Zecter, developer of the cloud-based media storage and transferal platform ZumoDrive, has raised $1.5 million in funding. New investor Sherpalo Ventures led, with participation from previous backers Tandem Entrepreneurs and VeriFone CEO Douglas Bergeron. Zecter was initially funded by Y Combinator.

ZumoDrive lets users port their media files to mobile devices, regardless of their storage capacity. This includes everything from massive iTunes libraries, to photo collections, and even allows for collaborative work on projects.

The company offers up to 1GB of storage for free; plans for users that need more file space start at $2.99/month for 10GB. Sherpalo Ventures founder Ram Shriram said the company was already “generating strong revenue” from its premium offering; it will use the new money for product development. Zecter was founded in 2007 by Amazon alum David Zhao, and Kevin West, formerly of Microsoft. Release.
