Zed Announces $100 Million Revenue For September; Merges With 9 Squared For US Focus

Spanish mobile content company Zed Group (formerly LaNetro Zed) has announced it generated $100 million in revenue in September this year, more than for the entire year of 2000. It now has 35 million customers across 37 countries. Zed said its expanding US operations in the areas of community, communication applications and mobile entertainment set the stage for the burst in revenue, along with good results in Russia, Mexico, Italy and Spain. Zed plans to increase its focus in the US by merging with 9 Squared, which it acquired along with the rest of MonsterMob back in February. It’ll then launch a number of new Zed-branded community and entertainment applications that are doing well outside the US…interactive community and multiplayer game functions are mentioned. Brian Casazza, co-founder and CEO of 9 Squared, the leading independent distributor of mobile content in the US, will lead the new Zed operations as CEO of Zed USA. (release)

The union of ZED and 9 square appears to be a good thing for the Moblie Media world.  It will be interesting to watch the innovative and exciting technology that this company has in store for the industry.
