Following through on last summer’s promises, YouTube is broadening its mobile service to include most of its video library and upload capabilities to a majority of mobile devices with streaming ability and 3G access. “YouTube for Mobile” (m.youtube.com) includes features from online YouTube.  A Java version is being tested on some newer Sony (NYSE: SNE) Ericsson (NSDQ: ERIC) and Nokia (NYSE: NOK) models.

YouTube has made some videos available to mobile phones since 2006. Until now, only iPhone and Helio offered a full mobile YouTube experience. It has a dedicated spot on the iPhone and Helio. YouTube also has agreements with LG, Vodafone naq Verizon, but only a few thousand videos have been available for viewing.  YouTube’s new mobile site will give users access to millions of the videos currently on the main site. Also, the new mobile site has most of YouTube’s regular features, including uploading, rating and sharing functions.

No ads—for now: YouTube doesn’t plan to run ads in the short-term. Hunter Walk, YouTube’s product manager, told AP that the Google-owned site just wants users to get used to watching videos on their phones but may add them.
