Updated: Yahoo’s Reorg Won’t Affect Connected Life Division

image As had been anticipated, Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) announced today a reorganization that spans a number of divisions, but looks like for now the “Connected Life” division, which includes mobile, and is led by Marco Boerries has remained untouched. Our sister site PaidContent.org has more info on the general reorg, which CEO Jerry Yang claims is designed to “leverage”, “accelerate”, “monetize” and “enhance” the company. For starters, Yahoo will centralize consumer product development by establishing a US-focused unit designed to bring products to market faster and form an “insights strategy team.” But according to the company’s release, the groups that will remain untouched are Yahoo’s Marketing Products Division, Connected Life and Corporate Marketing, which “will continue to operate as they do today.” I’ve got a request in to Yahoo to see if mobile will be affected at all, so stay tuned.

UPDATE: Sure enough, a Yahoo spokesperson confirmed that “Yahoo! Mobile is not impacted by today’s reorganization-related announcements,” and Connected Life EVP Marco Boerries will continue to report directly to Yahoo president Sue Decker. I think this is a smart move given that Yahoo’s mobile division seems to be running on all cylinders right now—even though it’s early, and the mobile search and advertising game is still completely up for grabs.

UPDATE II: From paidContent’s interview with go-to marketing head Hilary Schneider and media head Scott Moore: The reorg shouldn’t affect Connected Life, the company’s mobile services unit. Schneider: “Marco Boerries will continue to drive the strategy and execution for Connected Life on a global basis. However, we are the U.S. sales force for mobile advertising and we will partner with them on mobile efforts. From a content perspective, Scott’s organization is the engine for that side of the experience.”
