Vivendi (EPA: VIV) is making some big moves into the mobile content market, both as an operator and as a content producer. French mobile operator SFR (a JV between Vivendi and Vodafone) is launching a new service dubbed Illimythics which will offer a range of tariffs bundling voice minutes with unlimited data access. The service has received a bit of criticism on two counts, reports Telecommunications Online. First, the terms and conditions are complicated—not all types of browsing and data usage is unlimited—and second, the price of each plan will rise by 10 euros after the first 24 months of the contract. “[It’s] a weird way to reward customers for their loyalty,” said Ovum analyst Vincent Poulbere.

Vivendi also spoke about a multimedia portal its planning called Zaoza, which “will give users access to a wide range of entertainment products offered by Vivendi and ... might also include some element of social networking”. It will be available to mobile customers as well as on PCs.
