Verizon’s MediaFLo TV Service To Launch Tomorrow

As expected, Verizon’s mobile TV service in conjunction with Qualcomm’s MediaFLo will launch tomorrow, reports RCR, citing coverage maps on VZW’s website. The maps do not currently show coverage in major markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Diego or Las Vegas. Gigaom reports that the service will be rolled out in select markets like Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, Spokane, and Albuquerque. The major markets still need FCC clearance…at launch, the initial handset will be from Samsung, (the LG handset won’t be available at launch) and it will offer eight channels - CBS, NBC, NBC News, Fox, MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and ESPN.
The service will be priced in two main packages: A VCast Mobile TV Select offering for $25 per month, which includes all of the mobile TV channels plus VCAST videos; or just the mobile TV for $15 per month, say the story.
