Verizon Wireless Says It Added 1.5 Million Subs In Q2

Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) announced some of its second-quarter results today in conjunction with Vodafone (NYSE: VOD), which owns part of the company, and released its own quarterly results this morning. Verizon Wireless said it added 1.5 million net customers to end the second quarter with 68.7 million customers. The company will announce its complete results on July 28. Verizon still lags behind the No. 1 carrier AT&T (NYSE: T), which has 71.4 million subscribers at the end of the first quarter. However, Verizon Wireless hopes to leapfrog AT&T by purchasing Alltel (NYSE: AT) for more than $28 billion. Together, the two will have 80.2 million subscribers. Release.
