Verizon Wireless Planning Ad Alerts; More Services For Prepaid Customers

Verizon (NYSE: VZ) Wireless is planning to get its act together: it plans to offer new options for prepaid customers and will start sending advertising alerts to subscribers who ask for the inform, according to marketing chief Mike Lanman, in an interview with Reuters. These options will start in November. Also, the company’s expecting to ramp up its mobile TV offerings (the MediaFlo service). Sprint (NYSE: S)Nextel has a prepaid play with Boost, AT&T (NYSE: T) doesn’t have a dedicated brand, ad now is seems like VZW wants to play bigger in that market. On the ad side, “We’re going to be very smart and talk to our customers about what they want,” he said. In short, he said nothing that wasn’t obvious.
