Verizon Launches New Monthly Plans; Users Can Bring Their Own CDMA Devices

This sounds like an extension of the company’s open initiative, although this could be counted as a baby step. Starting today, Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) is offering customers a month-to-month plan, which eliminates the one-or-two year contract, but also differs from pre-paid, where you constantly have to refill your account. On the monthly plan, customers will have to pay full retail price for a device, or they can use their own CDMA devices. Users can stop service at the end of any month without having to pay a termination fee. What’s more, monthly customers will have access to the regular nationwide voice and data plans, and customers who are currently under a contract can switch over to a month-to-month agreement once their term expires. Release.
