Verizon Gearing Up For Mobile TV Launch In March

RCRWireless did a little detective work and found the clues on Verizon’s site point to a March 1 launch date for the operator’s mobile TV service. Coverage maps on the website indicated that Verizon would make mobile TV available only in “select markets” on March 1. (The maps do not currently show coverage in major markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Diego or Las Vegas.) Verizon has dubbed the service VCast Mobile TV, but provides no details on the service’s pricing or entertainment line-up. Verizon has hinted that it would launch its VCast Mobile TV offer in many major U.S. cities by the end of 1Q2007 – so a launch on March 1 makes good on this promise.
Staci adds: I asked Verizon earlier this week about a March 1 launch and was told no launch was coming this week and reminded that the quarter still had a few weeks to go. That wouldn’t preclude a soft launch, though.
