Vantrix Raises $14 Million To Manage Increasing Mobile Video Demands

Vantrix, the Montreal-based company that helps carriers deliver video to mobile phones, has raised $14 million in funding.

The third round was led by Tudor Ventures, and existing investors Summerhill Venture Partners, JK&B Capital, BDC Venture Capital, Innovacom Venture Capital and Entrepia Ventures also participated. Vantrix will use the money to expand as video consumption on handsets is expected to grow and continues to hog a carriers’ bandwidth capacity.

To date, the company has raised at least $29.2 million in total. As part of the round, Dan MacKeigan, Tudor’s principal will join the board of directors.

Vantrix said it can managed the most effective roll-out of video services over the mobile Web, MMS and streaming services. Its infrastructure is used by more than 60 mobile and broadband networks worldwide.
