It’s been known for a while now that Hispanics in the US consumer more mobile content than the general population, so it’s no surprise that M:Metrics is reporting the same thing. However, the research company offers as an explanation for the high usage the age demographic of the US Hispanic population. “There is a strong correlation between age and mobile content consumption of all types,” said Evan Neufeld, vice president, consulting and senior analyst at M:Metrics. The release notes that “the coveted 18-34 age group which comprises more than 51.5 percent of the total Hispanic mobile population. In comparison, the 18-34 age group only accounts for 31 percent of the entire U.S. mobile population”.

The survey found that English-speaking Hispanics in the US (and it’s good to remember that the Hispanic population is not an amorphous blob) are around twice as likely to consumer mobile content as the general population, although the extra likelyhood was less for playing a game or sending an e-mail/picture.
