UK Mobile Content Round Up: Reuters; Blyk; Five Mobile TV; Three

—Reuters (NSDQ: RTRSY) Revamps Mobile Site: Reuters has relaunched its mobile web site and given Nokia’s new mobile sales house Ad Business its UK ad sales contract (via NMA). The new site sits on a recently developed in-house platform that helps better integrate the mobile site and the web site. Nokia’s Ad Business, meanwhile, has signed several launch advertisers, including IBM, Lexus and Sony. Mastercard will try out pre-roll advertising spots available around Reuters’ mobile video downloads. Ilicco Elia, Reuters’ mobile products manager told NMA that usage is growing, and he would continue to focus on attracting more users after the relaunch. Reuters is also hoping to get to know its customers better, and will work with operators next year on how to extract more user data to create a more personalised service.
—Blyk Subscriber Goals on Target: The UK’s youth-targeted MVNO Blyk says it’s signing up 3,000 new subscribers a day, which puts it on target to reach its goal of 100,000 customers by November 2008. The MVNO gives 16-24 year olds a limited number of free calls and texts in exchange for receiving advertising messages via their mobile phone (via NMA).
—Five Mobile TV on Vodafone: TV broadcaster Five is rolling out its first mobile TV service, part of an entry-level TV package that Vodafone (NYSE: VOD) is offering its subscribers for £3 a month. Five’s flagship programs, The Gadget Show, Fifth Gear and Guinea Pigs will be part of the one-hour loop of streamed content that will be updated each week. Vodafone’s service will also include a some terrestrial and Sky content from existing mobile TV broadcasters (via NMA).
—Three Launches Streaming Music Service: Mobile network 3 has rolled out a streaming mobile music service priced at 49 pence ($1) for 24-hour access to eight different genres of music. Three likens its Non Stop Music service to a radio station: customers can switch between the different music genres. Each “station” is on a 4 hour loop, and the new music will be updated each week (via release).
