Two Retailers Pull Flagship Sony Ericsson Smartphone From Shelves

Sony (NYSE: SNE) Ericsson’s flagship smartphone, the Satio, has been pulled from the shelves of two British retailers after consumers complained of several problems, including the device freezing, the ringtone volume fluctuating and problems with phone numbers syncing with the address book.
Both Phones 4U and Carphone Warehouse has stopped selling the high-end multimedia device, which Sony Ericsson (NSDQ: ERIC) was hoping would sell well during the holiday season. In fact, Nathan Vautier, managing director of Sony Ericsson UK, said previously the phone would “help return the company to profitability,” according to the Telegraph.
Both the retailers and the company were hesitant to list the problems with the device, which runs the Symbian operating system and is known for having a 12 megapixel camera. However, in an online forum, users complained about the phone freezing several times a day, poor Wi-Fi connections, and low speaker volume, which led to missed calls and texts.
Sony Ericsson told the Telegraph that the problem was caused by a software glitch and added it was giving the issue its “utmost prority.”
