Twistbox Raises $19.5 Million; Ferguson Joins Board
Mobile content provider Twistbox Entertainment has raised $19.5 million in funding in a round led by an affiliate of ValueAct Capital and including other strategic investors. Twistbox raised $12.75 million last September when it renamed from adult content company Waat media and mobile games company Charismatix. The new funding will be used to drive the launch of new products including Web2Mobile Storefronts and Play4Prizes, as well as mobile advertising according to Ian Aaron, CEO of Twistbox.The company will also be increasing its direct to consumer efforts—although it has direct agreements with operators in 40 countries. Twistbox has also got a new high-profile board member: Graeme Ferguson, ex-head of programming for Vodafone Global, has joined the board. A year ago Ferguson dropped the bombshell that 70 percent of downloads are of adult content.
