Kajeet, a tween-focused MVNO startup based in Bethesda, MD, has raised $36.8 million in its second round of funding, in a tough MVNO environment overall. Draper Fisher Jurvetson Growth Fund (DFJ Growth Fund) led the financing, and existing investors, including Bessemer Venture Partners, Fidelity Ventures, Gabriel Venture Partners and InterWest Partners, also participated in this financing, reports VentureBeat.

Kajeet has been in operation since 2003 (under a deal with Sprint) and bills itself as a child-oriented mobile operator—albeit on probably a lower cost base than other MVNOs like Disney. It sells its services on a pay-as-you-go basis, offering various youth-friendly services with options for parents to control what content the kids get to use.
