Apple’s App Store revenues: As we all know, Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) takes 30 percent of the revenues from the app store. So, Bernstein analyst Toni Sacconaghi did the math to see how much Apple makes off that business, and it appears to be a drop in the bucket. He estimates that the App Store currently brings in about $60 million to $110 million in quarterly revenue for the iPhone maker. Compared to its last quarter’s revenues of $8.34 billion—that’s as much as 1 percent. As for how much trickles down to the bottomline? Sacconaghi said the App Store contributes between two cents and four cents a share in profit. The analyst also crunched the numbers for how much software developers make. Their 70 percent cut roughly translates to between $140 million and $250 million a quarter. [The WSJ.]

iPhone pricing in China: When the iPhone finally goes on sale in China next month, the overall cost of owning the phone will be among the lowest in the world. According to the Xinhua News Agency,  China Unicom will sell the 8GB iPhone 3G for $303, or roughly three times as much as the U.S. retail price. But the monthly cost will be about $18.45. Total cost for China Unicom customers over two years: $746. Total cost for AT&T (NYSE: T) customers: $1,779. [Fortune.]

Top Apps paid/free apps in August: The top paid iPhone apps were: Ragdoll Blaster by Backflip Studies ($1.99); Camera Genius by CodeGoo ($0.99); Scrabble by EA ($4.99). The top free apps were Bump by Bump Technologies; Facebook; and Doodle Buddy by Pinger. [Distimo Report.]
