Want to order room service, make a spa appointment, or even just get fresh towels at a hotel, without having to speak to a single staff member? Yes, there’s an app for that. The Hotel32, a new boutique hotel atop the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, gives guests branded iTouches when they first check in. The devices, which run on a mobile content and commerce platform called Hotel Evolution, act as virtual concierges. There are no ads. L.A.-based mobile and web design firm runtriz developed the platform.

The Hotel32 is the first location in Vegas to offer the Hotel Evolution app, per Mediapost, but runtriz also powers the virtual concierge platform for the Malibu Beach Inn in California. Guests with their own iPhones or other smartphones can also download the apps; runtriz built security into the platform so that it only functions if users enter their room number and a special passcode. Founded in 2006, CEO Matthew Allard said runtriz has raised funding from angel investors, but declined to disclose the amount.
