The Amp’d Canada Launch

Amp’d Mobile Canada launched last week on March 14, a date chosen because it was the start of mobile number portability in Canada. There was absolutely no fanfare. The website shows that Amp’d has a retail store as well as selling through carrier partner Telus and some retailers. The handset being mentioned is the Motorola Q and the plans range from CA$35-90 (US$30-76) per month, which seems roughly equivalent to the US. Entertainment packages are extra: CA$7 per month for radio, CA$10 per month for TV, or some packages with unlimited Amp’d Live data:
Amp’d Silver: $10/month, 10 video channels, 100 messages
Amp’d Gold: $15/month, 20 video channels, Amp’d Radio, 100 messages
Amp’d Platinum: $20/month, 20 video channels, Amp’d Radio, Amp’d TV, unlimited messages.
