Taiwan Broadcast Companies Will Trial MediaFLO For Mobile TV Services
Taiwanese broadcasters China Network Systems (CNS) and Taiwan Television Enterprise (TTV) will begin testing MediaFLO, the mobile TV technology from Qualcomm. The trial, slated to start this month in Taipei, will feature four live channels of CNS content and up to three live channels of TTV content. The companies will use the trial to evaluate “our business model for building a mobile broadcasting platform in Taiwan and to better understand how to migrate the platform to a commercial service,” they said in a statement. In October last year the Taiwan Government issued four licenses for mobile TV—one was for MediaFLO technology and the other three were to use DVB-H technology. As far as I’m aware this is the first trial to get off the ground, but two other TV stations will likely begin DVB-H trials soon, as well as a communications company.
Release.
