Still No iPhone 3G On China Mobile
The iPhone has been all the rage in the wireless industry for 14 months now and it’s still not available in China, the most populated country in the world. China Mobile, the world’s largest mobile operator, appears no closer to an agreement today after talking with Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) for almost a year now, PC World reports. “Steve Jobs and I hope the iPhone will enter China as soon as possible,” China Mobile CEO Wang Jianzhou said at the ITU Telecom Asia 2008 exhibition Tuesday in Bangkok. “We are discussing this issue but we do not have an agreement.” Previously, Jianzhou said he didn’t like the revenue sharing model that Apple dictated under sales of the first version of the iPhone, but this time he didn’t explain what’s holding back discussions. Still, more than 800,000 jail-broken iPhones are estimated to be in use in China today.
