Sprint Reappoints Boost Mobile’s Head To Lead 4G Deployment

Sprint (NYSE: S) Nextel said today it is appointing Matt Carter to lead the company’s WiMax roll-out. Previously, Carter was VP of Sprint’s prepaid division, which consisted of Boost Mobile. His new role as President of 4G will begin Jan. 11. Release.

Sprint owns slightly more than 50 percent of Clearwire (NSDQ: CLWR), which is building a national wireless broadband network. Sprint is reselling Clearwire’s services in each market where it launches. Carter, 48, will report to CEO Dan Hesse. Carter started at Sprint in 2006, and previously held executive positions at PNC Financial Services Group, Leap Wireless International and Security First Network Bank.
