South African Operator Vodacom Buys Stake in Social Net Zoopy
Vodacom, the pan-African mobile operator, has made an interesting strategic move: it has bought a 40 percent stake in local social media networking company Zoopy.com. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Zoopy.com was formed last March, and allows users to upload and share videos, photos, podcasts and blogs, all through their mobile phones…the site has been working with Nokia (NYSE: NOK) as its regional imaging partner for South Africa and west Africa.
