More than a year after its launch, Sony (NYSE: SNE) Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has announced it will wind up its Go!Messenger VoIP app developed by BT, at the end of the March following a lack of consumer interest. Sony posted a message on the official PSP forum (via Gamesindustry.biz): “Although Go!Messenger brought innovative communications features to the PSP community, the service has not developed the base of users that we were hoping for.” The free service used the Go! camera add-on to allow voice/video calls among PSP users, though it was possible to route calls to conventional phone lines. The move cuts short a four-year deal with BT (NYSE: BT) to provide the app, though Sony says it will consider developing Go! apps in future.
