SMS Twitter Reporting For The Presidential Elections

Mainstream news reporting is continuing its faltering steps onto the path of new media. Ana Marie Cox of Time.com and Marc Ambinder, a political blogger for The Atlantic, have joined Slate’s John Dickerson in using Twitter to report on the US presidential election, reports NYT. There are pluses and minuses to using 140-character text messages to report, most of which are outlined in the article. However, the most pertinent point was: “If you tell people how to consume their content, they will ignore you,” [Josh Tyrangiel, the managing editor of Time.com] said, a truism that experience had taught new-media executives. “Let people do what they want to do and try to be in their circle of choice.”
