Smartphone Software Firm MobileIron Launches With $9 Million In Funding

MobileIron, a smartphone software firm that caters to business clients, has come out of stealth mode with $9 million in funding. Backers include Norwest Venture Partners, Storm Ventures and Sequoia Capital, per VentureWire.

The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based startup launched a data and content management platform that helps companies monitor their employee’s smartphone usage (including security features).

IT managers can see trends across different handsets, operating systems and service providers; MobileIron says the platform can help enterprises slash their wireless bills by up to 20 percent. Release. (Word doc)
