Reston, Vir.-based ICO Global Communications, which has been slowly working on building a satellite network for mobile devices, has appointed Ben Wolff as Chairman and CEO. He will join the board immediately, and will take the helm as CEO on Dec. 31.

In a release, ICO said Michael Corkery will resign from the positions of acting CEO, EVP and CFO at year-end to pursue another career opportunity. Craig O. McCaw, the Company’s former Chairman, will remain on the Board of Directors. Wolff was previously CEO at Clearwire (NSDQ: CLWR), another McCaw company. He continues to serve as Clearwire’s Co-Chairman. Wolff, who was previously on ICO’s board, will service as interim CEO while the company conducts a formal search.
