Roeding’s New Startup Raises $2.5 Million from KPCB, Hoffman; Raising More

Cyriac Roeding, the former head of mobile at CBS and an EIR at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers since last year, is finally moving with his new startup under the KPCB wings: the new company, tentatively called Cross-Platform Corp, has raised about $2.5 million in its first round of funding, from KPCB and LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, among others, according to an SEC filing just filed. It is looking to raise as much more and round out the round at $5 million, the filing says. Not clear: if the funding is from KPCB’s iPhone fund, but the filing lists the fund manager Matt Murphy as a board member of the new company. Also not clear: what the new company does, but this may be a hint: the company was formerly called Mobile Shop Inc, also a working title. Something to do with cross-platform shopping, maybe…more when we get more.
