This will be driven in part by regulations in various countries around the world that restrict the use of mobile devices while driving, which manufacturers combat by creating voice controls. Datamonitor thinks that app stores will let smaller speech-recognition companies get to market, and notes that while the current norm is stand-alone apps on the handsets in the future it`s likely there will be significant use of hybrid network and embedded speech recognition.
