Rave Wireless Gets a Big $18 Million Third Round Funding

Rave Wireless, the NYC-based mobile phone apps provider for colleges/universities, has received $18 million in its third round of funding, according to a regulatory filing, picked up by PEHub. The round was led by Trilogy Equity Partners, and joined by return backers Bain Capital Ventures, Sigma Partners and RRE Ventures. The company has raised $17 million in two previous rounds since 2005.

The NYC-based firm is working on apps for communities such as colleges and universities with GPS-enhanced mobile safety, social networking, academic and local commerce applications. In wake of VirginiaTech massacre, services such as these are being looked at closely by all universities.
