RadioShack has quietly begun operating special mobile-phone departments within some Target stores through a new partnership with the big-box retailer, reports Dow Jones Newswires.

The electronics company is banking on phones as one way to turnaround the business, according to the company’s Q3 results released last week. RadioShack’s EVP and CFO Jim Gooch, said increased activity was in the latter part of the quarter was “primarily driven by our strong mobility business combined with an economy showing some signs of potential stabilization.” Recently, RadioShack started reselling phones and services from T-Mobile and added Verizon Wireless (NYSE: VZ) to RadioShack kiosks in Sam’s Club.

The kiosks are named “Bullseye Mobile Solutions,” and are located in the electronics section of the store. Employees will wear black shirts instead of the regular red ones worn by Target employees. So far, kiosks are running in about 100 stores in California, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, Texas and Washington, according to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal, but Target plans to expand the concept to 1,700 stores next year.
