Qualcomm Plans Healthcare MVNO

A strategic MVNO if there ever was one: Qualcomm and several unnamed parnters are planning to launch an MVNO in the second half of next year, dubbed LifeComm. The MVNO will be focused on healthcare but designed to have a broad consumer appeal, writes Wireless Week. The plan is to offer services for things like “fitness, weight management or reduction, diabetes management, and monitoring heart health, including hypertension and congestive heart disease” and the MVNO will be targeted at 40-65 year-old women because they are “influencers” when it comes to health. Some of the partners in the MVNO are medical device manufacturers and the phone may connect with various monitors. Unsurprisingly, the MVNO will use the BREW platform and run on a CDMA operator.
