BlackBerry may be losing at least one more high-profile user, but this time it’s not due to the competition. President-elect Barack Obama has been a heavy BlackBerry user for years, but when he joins the White House, he’ll likely have to break the habit due to security concerns and vulnerability to public review, the NYT reports. For presidents, electronic correspondence, such as email, is subject to public review, and while Obama may become the first president to maintain email, his aides say it’s unlikely. Over the course of his campaign, memos and news roundups were routinely sent to his BlackBerry in lieu of printouts. While it’s expected to take some getting used to, his aides will likely handle all electronic correspondence going forward.
