Paramount Developing Mobile Comics Based On Films
Paramount Pictures is adding another feather to its mobile cap with a series of comics based on films from its catalog. Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, a movie based on a series of books by Louise Rennison, is the first mobile comic set for release. All of the comics will be co-developed with Omnitoons in a “Manga style” for three different formats: single-panel comics, four screens per comic and short stories with more than 20 screens per episode. The comics are currently available through SMS and J2ME formats in the United States, Australia, Europe and India and will soon be made available for download on carrier decks and content resellers. When Paramount Mobile Entertainment was formed in February, the studio said it planned to develop the studio’s mobile opportunities and alternative distribution models.
