Papa John’s Hits $1 Million In Pizza Orders Via Its New Mobile Site
Papa John’s says it mobile site is off to a fast start, with more than $1 million in sales just six months after launching the service, Mobile Marketer reports. Earlier this year, the pizza chain surpassed $1 billion in online sales, up from $400 million last year. More than 20 percent of all orders placed with the company now come online or via SMS, widgets or smartphones. Papa John’s expects that number to eventually surpass traditional telephone orders. To promote the mobile service, the company plans to place some mobile ads soon and print short codes on pizza boxes next year. The WAP site, which was developed by Tallahassee, Fla.-based WiseOutlook features the company’s full menu, special offers and a restaurant locator, and lets customers set up an account so they can easily place orders in the future. Orders placed on mobile are typically no different than the run-of-the-mill orders placed online or over the phone: pizza, cheese sticks, drinks; all for an average $20 per order, the company reported. Papa John’s said the mobile orders span all age groups and other demographics as well.
