Palm Opens Floodgates To App Catalog, Kind Of
If developers haven’t yet given up, Palm (NSDQ: PALM) said today in a blog that it is making it’s “Mojo Software Development Kit” available to everyone starting today, meaning all interested developers can now build applications for the Palm Pre. Whether developers are still interested in the platform after hearing unconfirmed rumors about less-than-stellar handset sales (pegged somewhere in the hundreds of thousands) remains to be seen. Plus, while the SDK is now officially available, submissions won’t be accepted until this fall.

The SDK can be downloaded from at a new developer portal launched today called Palm webOSdev. Palm said the appetite for apps is strong among its users, with more than 1.8 million apps being downloaded since the phone went for sale six weeks ago. And, new applications will be added to the App Catalog soon.
