Palm (NSDQ: PALM) has been slow to roll-out more applications in the Pre’s App Catalog, and now it’s announcing a very relaxed schedule for when developers will be able to start selling applications (and not just giving them away for free). Release.

Developers can start submitting the applications for approval in mid-September through a beta program, and then the full program will launch this fall in the U.S. Palm gave two details about how the program will work: It said developers will receive 70 percent of the revenues, and the remaining chunk will go to Palm; and customers will pay for apps using either a Visa or Mastercard. More details are expected in the coming weeks.

At last count, the store had more than 30 applications, but that was expected to change since Palm opened up its software development kit to any interested developer back in mid-July. In the first six weeks, 1.8 million applications had been downloaded by users.
