Ofcom confirmed today it is planning to auction radio spectrum suitable for services including mobile TV, among others. The UK telecoms regulator set a provisional deadline for applications of 10 April 2008, with the online auction likely to start at the end of April. Ofcom has identified a number of uses for the 1452-1492 MHz band, the so-called “L Band.” Aside from mobile TV, the band can also be used for mobile broadband, satellite digital radio and broadband wireless access (release).
