Nokia’s Ovi Store TV Commercial Is A Lot Like Apple’s
Given that Nokia (NYSE: NOK) only had 10 million downloads on its Ovi Store in the first three months (and Apple (NSDQ: AAPL) announced today it hit 2 billion downloads in little over a year), it’s probably a good thing that Nokia has started to get the word out about the store by advertising on TV.

According to Nokia Conversations, which is the official Nokia blog, the commercial has launched in the UK and there’s a German version of it floating around on YouTube. While the commercial is not identical to Apple’s catchy “there’s an app for that” campaign, the music is startlingly similar. Surely, copying is the dearest form of flattery. Nokia’s blog writes: “I’m not sure how long it’s been running but I was genuinely surprised and HUGELY impressed. It was clear, showed definite benefits for users and firmly plants the Ovi Store seed in viewers’ minds.” The one criticism was for how they pronounced Ovi. “It was the harsher, more sudden version, rather than the softer, more drawn out one.”
